The Climate Change Development Authority (CCDA) has officially launched its new website and accompanying Communication, Knowledge Management, and Visibility Strategy, aiming to strengthen climate information access and stakeholder engagement across Papua New Guinea.
CCDA Acting Managing Director Debra Sungi at the launch urged stakeholders, partners, and the public to use the website to share ideas, knowledge, and success stories that can inform the country’s climate adaptation and mitigation efforts.
“Climate change affects each and every one of us. Having essential systems in place, such as providing reliable data, is critical for planning and preparing for climate impacts,” Sungi said.
“Data management and open access are vital for effective governance.”
The launch event was attended by representatives from the European Union and Expertise France, who are key partners under the EU Forestry, Climate Change, and Biodiversity (EUFCCB) Program supporting PNG’s climate agenda.

Hans Lambrecht, PhD, First Secretary and Head of Cooperation at the Delegation of the European Union to Papua New Guinea, spoke on behalf of HE Jacques Fradin, the Ambassador of the European Union.
He emphasized the importance of evidence-based planning, highlighting that access to accurate and authorized data helps government agencies, stakeholders, and the public understand ongoing developments and actions.
“This website is a tool for transparency and accountability, especially in an age of disinformation,” he added.
Expertise France, the implementing agency for the EUFCCB’s national component, played a key role in developing the new website and strategy.

Country Director Expertise France Ms. Emilie Mignot commended the CCDA team for their commitment, saying the new digital tools will improve climate knowledge sharing from national to community level.
Mignot stated that their collaboration focused on building institutional capacity and digital systems to help CCDA communicate more effectively.
This will support better policy-making, promote inclusive participation, and strengthen climate action across sectors.
The newly launched website will serve as a central platform for storing, managing, and sharing climate change information.
It is designed to be accessible on mobile devices and user-friendly for diverse audiences, including government agencies, communities, youth, academia, and civil society organizations.
CCDA’s ICT Manager, Ethel Namuri, said the strategy behind the platform emphasizes traditional and digital media to expand outreach, capture community stories, and promote partnerships.
“We want to ensure accurate, timely, and targeted information reaches everyone, encouraging collaboration and informed action,” she said.
The launch concluded with a live demonstration showcasing the website’s features and mobile compatibility. CCDA thanked the EU, Expertise France, and all partners for their ongoing support in building climate resilience in Papua New Guinea.
