The Marape-Rosso Government has prioritised health and education in the 2026 National Budget, with both sectors receiving some of their biggest increases in recent years.

Health funding rises by 15.8% to K3.204 billion, including additional support for Provincial Health Authorities, medical supplies and critical vaccines. Church Health Services also receive a 22% increase to strengthen their work in rural areas.

Education receives an 11.3% boost, reaching K4.935 billion. More than half of the additional funding goes toward teacher salaries and recruitment. School and project fee support rises to K904.5 million.

Treasurer Ian Ling-Stuckey said the increases are possible because the Government is improving revenue collection without adding new taxes.

“This shows that strong economic management can deliver real services for our people,” he said.

Meanwhile, education and health agencies are expected to roll out new recruitment, salary adjustments and supply distribution plans early next year to ensure funds reach classrooms and health centres on time.
