The Eight Pacific Island nation police bands touched down at Jacksons International Airport in Port Moresby on Saturday the 19th of July 2025.

The Police Pacific Tattoo is a four-day celebration of culture, music and discipline.

Chief Inspector David Terry of the PNG Royal Constabulary confirmed final preparations are underway for the opening starting at 10 am today at the Ela Beach.

Chief Inspector Terry said the Royal Papua New Guinea Constabulary (RPNGC) has set up tents, a mobile command post and a big stage for parades, exhibitions and live entertainment.

“The big stage will house the master of ceremony and a live band. We’re also having a traditional singing group and a string band from Central Province,” Inspector Terry said.

Todays event at Ela Beach will lead up to the main event on Tuesday at Sir Hubert Murray Stadium, where nine police bands — including PNG’s own RPTC — will perform together in a powerful display of unity and talent.

Inspector Terry encouraged city residents to join the celebrations.

“If you’re doing nothing today, come to Ela Beach onwards and then we can also see you on Tuesday at the Sir Hubert Murray Stadium,” he said.
