NICTA pre-screening of the Film named “The Nation on the Line”

The National Information and Communication Technology Authority has produced a film called “The Nation on the Line” in commemoration of Papua New Guinea 50th Independence Anniversary.

The film is more than a record of the telecommunication sector. It is a story of vision, resilience, and national progress. This was stated by the Chief Executive Officer for NICTA Mr Kila Gulo-Vui during his welcoming address on the Pre-Screening of the film at the Paradise Cinema in Port Moresby on Thursday the 2nd of October, 2025.

Mr Gulo-Vui said that earlier this year, in April 2025, NICTA called for proposals to capture this journey and after a  competitive process, Screencraft Media Pty Ltd was awarded the film project and delivered it which NICTA is thankful for their professionalism and creativity in bringing the history of telecommunication story in PNG to life.

“This documentary is complemented by a three-volume book set, edited by Kyle Portbury on behalf of Tolhurst Creative, which will be delivered by the end of November. Together, the film and books will provide a lasting record of the role that ICT has played in nation-building for the current and future generations.”

He said,  it is not only about history however it is also about the future.

“ICT is central to digital transformation, national development, and inclusive growth and it connects communities, empowers businesses, and opens new opportunities for all Papua New Guineans,” said Mr Gulo-Vui.

“As we celebrate this milestone, let us honor the legacy of those who came before us, and let us commit to carrying that legacy forward with innovation, unity, and purpose,” he said.
