Governor Grand Chief Sir Bob Dadae officially welcomed a delegation of aspiring military officers to Government House on Monday, June 15th 2026.
The visit featured 31 cadets from the Joint Forces Academy, based out of Igam Barracks in Lae.
During their time at Government House, the cadets were given an exclusive tour of the grounds. They met with senior officials and received broad briefings on the critical operational roles and functions of the office, as well as the constitutional responsibilities of the Governor General as Papua New Guinea’s Head of State representative.
Grand Chief Sir Bob personally addressed the young men and women, highly commending them for choosing a path of national service.
“You have chosen to pursue a special career unlike any other, one that requires sacrifice, and your life and service to the State. Whilst our nation is not involved in a war right now, we must at all times be prepared as I know you are to defend our country.” Sir Bob stated.
The Governor General also shared his anticipation for the future, noting that he looks forward to personally attending their formal graduation ceremony in August of this year.
These 31 cadets have successfully undergone difficult military training designed to equip them with the elite leadership skills required to serve as officers across Papua New Guinea Defense Force (PNGDF) establishments nationwide.
